Grow the Living History of Flagstaff!

Did your abuelita / shimásání / seanmhair / 祖母 / grandmother share with you memories, stories, tastes, or smells of a certain plant?

Or, if your grandfolks didn’t get the chance, are you looking to reconnect with a plant in your ancestral past now?

Let’s rediscover the journey we’re on as people — through the plants we grow and eat!

If there is an edible plant that tells your story, whether personal, cultural, family, immigrant, indigenous, ancestral, come grow it with us in the Living History Gardens. We have 6 (six) openings to grow a Living History crop in a raised metal Vego garden bed (about 6.5 x 3.5 foot) at our new McAllister Ranch growing space during the 2026 growing season. Crops will be harvested and eaten during the end-of the-season harvest celebration. Grow your crop, share your story, and enjoy the harvests in the Fall.
